Description Print Queue Hosting

The enterprise print service currently hosts print queues for Information Technology Services networked printers as well as print queues for departmental networked printers across campus.  The print team is currently working on a project called the print queue reconfiguration project.  The goal of this project is to work with existing customers in order to move the print queues located on Iowa Print 01 (IP01) and 02 to Iowa Print 03, 04 and 05.  This project will allow SPA services to retire IP01 and IP02.

Printing Metrics

Once the print queue reconfiguration project is completed the print team will focus on rolling out PaperCut software to campus.  PaperCut is a print metric software.  Currently PaperCut is being utilized and managed by the ITC’s, however; the scope of this service will be expanded and marketed to campus.   PaperCut will allow information technology administrators to track and report on departmental printing usage.
