Information Technology Services at The University of Iowa

Winter session of NExTT is Jan. 12-15

Looking for new ways to use technology in the classroom? Need a refresher on the latest changes to the ICON system?

The NExTT workshops – New Experiences with Teaching Technology – are aimed at faculty, instructional support staff, and TAs who want to use classroom technologies more effectively. The hands-on nature of the workshop sessions allows you to fully explore a variety of technology options, and coaches are available to assist you along the way.

NExTT workshops are held twice each year. ITS Instructional Services is offering the winter session of NExTT Jan. 12 through Jan. 15. Attendance is free. View the session descriptions and registration information online.

Seventeen seminars are offered over the course of the four-day workshop, and participants are free to register for only those sessions they wish to attend. All workshop sessions take place in the University Capitol Centre (UCC) Training Room, inside the Conference Center on the second floor.

What can you expect from January’s NExTT workshop? ICON had a major upgrade this year, so instructors may want to take advantage of the seminars introducing changes to that system. We’re offering an ICON overview, and sessions on content, communication tools, quizzes, the ICON grade book, and advanced home pages.

NExTT also features a session on Personal Response Systems (clickers); an overview of the services offered by the ITS Instructional Services work group; and brand-new seminars that include an introduction to Web 2.0 tools, as well as information about iMovie, and poster creation.
