The Instructional Design Team (IDT) seeks to enhance teaching and learning at The University of Iowa through the promotion of a systematic approach to the design and implementation of enterprise technology solutions in the learning environment.  Activities include:

• ICON, Instructional Design Consulting, Clickers (Student Response Systems), ifolio (Electronic Portfolios), Training
• offering group sessions on pedagogical technology issues
• forming and leading special teams to explore and gauge interest in emerging technologies
• forming partnerships with academic units to incorporate instructional design principles into their courses.

ITS Instructional Services' Digital Media Solutions workgroup brings together the unique knowledge, skills, techniques, tools, and technology to facilitate the use of digital media in instruction by working with:

• Faculty in the creation, organization, and delivery of digital media.  This includes providing instruction to faculty and IT support staff on a variety of multimedia applications and technology, while investigating and learning new technologies to be used by faculty and developing applications related to multimedia across a variety of media, including the web, DVDs and CDs.
  
• ITS departments and other campus service providers to further the technology infrastructure and technology support services that meet the needs of faculty wanting to use digital media.
  
• Iowa Regents institutions (University of Northen Iowa, Iowa State University), CIC (a consortium of 12 research universities, including the 11 members of the Big Ten Conference and the University of Chicago), Internet2, and ViDe working groups to stay abreast of what others are doing and technology trends.

The Learning Spaces Technology group (LST) designs, implements and supports technology in computer labs and classrooms across campus. LST services include ITC computer lab and UI library public computer support, ITC Print Accounting, Classroom Technology Support, Assistive Technology support and the ITS Virtual Desktop.

Student Instructional Technology Assistants are innovative problem sovlers who work with faculty to enhance the student learning experience. SITAs work individually with instructors and maintain active relationships with departments around campus, providing training sessions and other support to larger groups. We combine technology resources to create forward thinking solutions for our clients, and we share those ideas around the University.
