Instructional Services Campus Engagement

A basic premise of Instructional Technologies is that we work closely with faculty and staff across campus on all of our projects. They are the driving force behind how we choose to spend our time and efforts and ensure that our work is beneficial to the campus. Collaboration is a key aspect of everything we do. Below are key partnerships for Instructional Services.

Internet2 Commons: Remote Collaboration Services

The Internet2 Commons accelerates the adoption of IP-based collaboration technologies for the Internet2 research and education community. Supported by and developed with its members, the Internet2 Commons has deployed an H.323 Videoconferencing Service for multi-site connections. Standards-based, vendor-neutral videoconferencing through this scalable service allows subscribing members to schedule and hold distributed working groups, classes, meetings, and conferences in support of research and education.

The Internet2 Commons encourages the large-scale deployment of tools for one-to-one, one-to-group, and group-to-group collaborations. The services provided by The Internet2 Commons are available to Internet2 members, Abilene participants, and other Internet2 partners. While The Internet2 Commons will eventually comprise a large set of collaboration services, it is initially focused on services related to videoconferencing.
