Instructional Services is a department within The University of Iowa's Information Technology Services. We provide technology support for the University's instructors and researchers. Instructional Services is a versatile organization, striving to meet our goals through continued exploration, implementation, and refinement of new technology, methods, and support options.


3D Printing - Create 3D objects from computer files created with CAD file and other 3D software.

Access Grid - Affords video conferencing with many remote sites at the same time.

Assistive Technology Support - Referral-based technology support for persons with disabilties.

Classroom Technology Support - Technology support for campus classrooms.

Conference & Summer Program Guest Access - Computer lab and wireless access for UI visitors.

Digital Media - Consulting to support the independent use and pedagogically sound application of digital media technologies.

Email Express Stations - Campus public email stations.

High-Speed Internet Applications - Consulting for applications that leverage high-performance networking infrastructure and worldwide partnerships to further the University's instructional and research missions.

ICON (Iowa Courses ONline) - Course Management Software, Password-protected course management system for The University of Iowa

ifolio Electronic Portfolios - Consulting and administrative support for ifolio electronic portfolio system at The University of Iowa.

Instructional & Research Services Consulting Studio - Computer work areas where faculty and support staff can collaborate with ITS consultants on research and instructional projects.

Instructional Design Support - Training, consulting and exploration to support pedagogically sound technology solutions in the learning environment.

 

Instructional Technology Centers (ITCs) - 26 general access computer labs across campus, which provide students, faculty and staff with access to over 80 applications on Windows and Macintosh computers.

ITC Laptop Checkout - ITC Support has over 90 laptops available for student checkout in the Main Library, Hardin Library and Pharmacy ITC.

ITC Printing - Printing for UI sutdents, faculty and staff in 26 ITC locations, 11 UI Libraries and numerous other departmental computer labs.

Library Public Computers - Provides ITC-style access and printing in 11 UI Library locations across campus.

Plagiarism Detection Services - Consulting and administrative support for Turnitin.com, a plagiarism detection service licensed by The University of Iowa.

Public Computing Software Services - Provide imaging, software deployment and software metering services  to departments with computer labs or public computing facilities.

Real-Time Collaboration Environments - Consulting and other support provided for real time Internet-based collaboration environments.

Student Instructional Technology Assistants (SITA) - Student assistants to provide training and production help on projects that integrate technology into teaching

Student Response Systems (SRS) - Student responses systems allow students to enter responses via a small wireless device that records responses through software and a radio frequency receiver to the instructor station in a classroom.

Virtual Desktop - Provides students, faculty and staff with access to unique Windows desktop applications (SPSS, Photoshop, SAS & many more) from a web browser.
