Files@Iowa - Service Details
Hours of Operation
The ITS Enterprise Storage Service, Files@Iowa, is available and monitored 24 hours, 7 days a week.
If you encounter problems accessing your files during normal business hours, contact the ITS Help Desk at 319-384-HELP (4357) or its-helpdesk@uiowa.edu. During normal business hours, reported problems will be addressed within four hours.
Data protection
Snapshot backups throughout the day protect your files against accidental changes or deletion for up to one month. (The system retains 24 hours of snapshots throughout the day, one week of daily snapshots, and one month of weekly snapshots.) In addition, files and snapshots are copied to a remote site every 4 hours to protect against a major disaster. Finally, files are copied to tape each month, and the tape copies are retained for one year.
Alerts and Reporting
When the file space used reaches 90% of the allocation, users will be alerted with an e-mail message. Instructions will provide you the opportunity to clean up the files or decide if you need to purchase additional file space click the following link. Purchasing Additional File Space
We are investigating additional reporting tools that will provide users with detailed reports about space usage.

You have reached 90% of the 1,024 MB limit on your network folder at \\home.iowa.uiowa.edu (also known as your home drive, or H: drive). Please reduce the size of this folder by removing any unwanted or unneeded files. If you need assistance, please contact your local or IT Administrator or the ITS Help Desk at 319-384-HELP(4357) or its-helpdesk@uiowa.edu.
