Files@Iowa --Your Electronic Storage Solution
Files@Iowa
Files@Iowa is network file storage for students at the University of Iowa. Your storage space on Files@Iowa is often called your H: (Windows) or Home (Mac) drive; you can access this file space on campus or off, on a university computer or on your own computer. All students are allocated 1 GB of space. We back up the data on Files@Iowa, so if you lose a file we may be able to help you recover it.
Why use Files@Iowa?
- You can access your files from any computer in any Instructional Technology Center (ITC) on campus.
- Your Files@Iowa space is backed up regularly, and files usually can be restored if you accidentally overwrite or delete them.
- You can work on a document in a residence hall or at home, and then print the file from an ITC.
- You can access Files@Iowa from off campus with a few simple steps.
Accessing Your Files@Iowa Space
- In the ITCs on Campus. Most students with a Hawk ID in the IOWA domain will have their Files@Iowa space mounted as an H: drive on Windows computers in the ITCs (Mac users will find Files@Iowa in a folder on the Dock). If your Hawk ID is in the IOWA domain, you can save directly to your H: drive to store files in Files@Iowa. These files will then be accessible outside of the ITCs through the web using either of the MyFiles tools. See the ITC Web Site for locations, hours, software available, and more information about ITCs on campus.
