Do I need to purchase a clicker?

If you are required to buy a clicker, it will be listed on your course syllabus. They will also be available for purchase, along with your course books, at either the University of Iowa Bookstore or Iowa Book.

How much do clickers cost?

The onetime cost is $37.35, and it can be used in multiple classes throughout your time here at the University of Iowa.

Can I borrow a clicker from a friend?

You can, but you cannot share clickers. There are a couple of things to consider if you plan on borrowing a clicker:

  • Only one clicker can be registered per student per semester. If your friend needs to use their clicker for the term, you cannot borrow it. If they will not be using it for the term, you can borrow it, but you have to make sure you register it for yourself for the term through ICON.
  • If you are a freshman or sophomore, you will probably be using the clicker in other classes during your time at the University, as we have just standardized to the TurningPoint clicker. It might be worth the purchase. You can always sell it back if you don't use it in the future.
  • If your friend has other types of clickers, these may not work. You need to make sure you are using the ResponseCard RF (pictured above).
