Currently, we are able to integrate TurningPoint with ICON, both to produce participant lists for your courses and to import results into your grade books. What follows below are the instructions for exporting participant lists, exporting results out of TurningPoint, and importing those results into ICON. Connecting to your ICON course

The LTI Integration with Canvas allows for TurningTechnologies presenters to easily import a participant list of students from ICON into TurningPoint Cloud, and then export assessment data into the Gradebook.

  1.  In your ICON site’s Modules page, click to add an item to a Module.
  2.  Select “External Tool” from the dropdown menu.
  3. Select “Turning Account Registration – Clickers” from the list of tools available.
  4. Click “Load in a new tab.” Optionally, you can customize the Page Name field.
  5. Click “Add Item.”
   

How to download your Participant List from ICON

A participant list from ICON can be loaded into TurningPoint Cloud to track participant results.

  1. From the TurningPoint Cloud Dashboard, select the Manage tab.
  2. Click the Participant List dropdown menu and select New.
  3. Select Download from Integration.
  4. Click Create List
  5. Select Canvas from the dropdown menu. 
  6. Enter https://uiowa.turningtechnologies.com into the Server Address field.
  7. Click “Connect.”
  8. Enter your HawkID and Password to connect TurningPoint Cloud to your Canvas instructor account.
  9. Click Authorize to allow the TurningTechnologies integration to access your Canvas Account
  10. Select at least one course to connect to Turning Point Cloud.
  11. Click Import.

Note: Only students will be pulled into your Participant lists.

   

How to update your Participant List

A participant list from ICON can be updated for latest participant information using the Participant List Overview feature.

  1. From the TurningPoint Cloud Dashboard, select the Manage tab.
  2. Select the Participant List in the left panel.
  3. Click Update from the Participant List Overview.
  4. Select Canvas from the dropdown menu. 
  5. Enter https://uiowa.turningtechnologies.com into the Server Address field.
  6. Click “Connect.”
  7. Enter your HawkID and Password to connect TurningPoint Cloud to your Canvas instructor account.
  8. Click Authorize to allow the TurningTechnologies integration to access your Canvas Account
  9. Select Update Participant List and Update List.
  10. Click Close.

Note: Only students with active licenses will be pulled into your Participant lists.

   

Exporting results from TurningPoint to ICON's Gradebook

TurningPoint Sessions can be exported to a Canvas Gradebook using the Results Manager function in TurningPoint Cloud

  1. From the TurningPoint Cloud dashboard, select the Manage tab.
  2. Select the Participant List in the left panel.
  3. Click Results Manager in the lower right corner of the Participant List Overview window.
  4. Click Integrations.
  5. Select Canvas from the dropdown menu. 
  6. Enter https://uiowa.turningtechnologies.com into the Server Address field.
  7. Click “Connect.”
  8. Enter your HawkID and Password to connect TurningPoint Cloud to your Canvas instructor account.
  9. Click Authorize to allow the TurningTechnologies integration to access your Canvas Account.
  10. Select Export Session(s).
  11. Select the column(s) to be exported and click Export.
  12. Verify and Click Export again.
