To mostly avoid multiple authentication (login) prompts when accessing content on a SharePoint site (e.g. from an IOWA domain attached Windows workstation, make the following changes to Internet Explorer or Firefox (Note that Chrome appears to respect IE's security settings in this context).

For Internet Explorer:

  • In Internet Explorer go to Tools > Internet Options
  • Click on the Security tab
  • Click on the Local Intranet icon and then click the Sites button
  • Click on the Advanced button
  • Add the following URL by entering it in the "Add this website to the zone" box and clicking the Add button:
    • Another option is to add the domain instead of the specific site URL's
      • http://*
      • https://*
  • Click Close
  • Click OK
  • Click OK

For Firefox:

  • In Firefox, type about:config in the URL address bar and press Enter
  • In the Config settings window, search for: 'network.negotiate-auth.trusted-uris' and double-click it
  • In the dialog box that comes up enter:
  • Click OK (Firefox should now use your Domain credentials to access SharePoint sites on campus)
