The HR Self-Service web site ( is available to faculty, staff, and student employees.  If you are having issues accessing the web site, it could be for one of the following reasons:

Your HawkID password is expired or was typed incorrectly.

Solution: Verify your HawkID password by going to and clicking on Test Your Account. If your HawkID password is expired you can change it by clicking on Change Password.  If you do not know your HawkID password, contact the ITS Help Desk at 319-384-HELP (4357).  For security reasons, we cannot reset and deliver passwords over email or online chat.

You do not have access to HR Self-Service. 

Solution: Access to HR Self-Service is dependent on your appointment status.  Until your appointment is fully processed, you will not have access to the site.  Contact your supervisor or your departmental human resources represntative with questions about the status of your appointment.

You are trying to access HR Self-Service from a link in an email or a bookmark. 

Solution: Sometimes a link in an email or a bookmark in your browser may point to a function of HR Self-Service that you do not have access to.  Type in the URL to access HR Self-Service directly.
