Central File Storage - Files@Iowa
Files@Iowa is a service offered by ITS that allows users to save their files to a backed up location that is accessible from work or home 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The goal of this service is to provide file storage for faculty, staff, students and departments.
Home Drives (H:) Each faculty member, staff member and student will be allocated 25 GB of file space.
Shared Drives (L:) Each department will be allocated 1 GB of file space per full-time employee (FTE). Departments or researchers who would like additional file space may may purchase it. Pricing is based on allocated file space not on actual file space usage.
30 day snapshots are online for users to do a "self-restore". Backups of data are kept for 6 months. Contact the ITS Help Desk if you need assistance with a previous version or a restore.
These directions will help you access your files whether you are on or off the University of Iowa campus. To begin, you'll need to know if your computer is part of the Iowa domain. Generally, a university-issued computer is part of the Iowa domain, and your own personal computer is not. (How to tell if my computer is part of the Iowa Domain.)
