The following are the most probable causes of sound issues that occur in classrooms and common troubleshooting tips you can try.

Problem Cause Solution
No sound from the PC
  • Machine may be muted/ turned down or A/V System may be muted/ turned down.
  • The room system is turned off.
  • The room system audio has become out of sync.
  • Check the volume of the machine to ensure that it is turned up. Also check the room system to make sure it is on and the volume is turned up The system must also not be in Pic mute. 
  • Make sure the room A/V system is turned on.
  • Switch sources and then switch back. If PC is the source selected, switch to DVD (make sure DVD is turned on, DVD logo should be displayed), wait a few seconds and switch back to PC.
  • Restart the room PC.
  • Restart the room A/V system.

In room PC only plays sound via the internal speakers
  • The PC audio is not being output to the room A/V system.
  • Left click the sound icon in the bottom corner of the screen in the system tray, click on playback devices, the Default Device should be listed and selected as Extron. 
  • Restart the room PC.
  • Restart the room A/V system.

No sound from the DVD/ Blu-Ray player
  • Player may be muted/ turned down or A/V System may be muted/ turned down.
  • The room system is turned off.
  • The room system audio has become out of sync.
  • Check the volume of the player to ensure that it is turned up. Also check the room system to make sure it is on and the volume is turned up The system must also not be in Pic mute. 
  • Make sure the room A/V system is turned on.
  • Switch sources and then switch back. If DVD/Blu-Ray is the source selected, switch to PC (make sure PC is turned on, PC desktop should be displayed), wait a few seconds and switch back to DVD/ Blu-Ray.
  • Restart the room PC.
  • Restart the room A/V system.
