What effect does personalized feedback have on student engagement? An experimental study from a large introductory chemistry course reveals how using learning analytics data to generate hundreds of personalized feedback messages based on student behavior significantly increased student engagement compared to generic messages. In a session led by Adam Brummett, lecturer in chemistry, and the Office of Teaching, Learning, and Technology, we’ll discuss the results of this study and demonstrate how you can create similar feedback in your course to benefit students and foster a more inclusive learning environment.
