ITS - Research Services is in the process of moving user management for LSS shares into Access Management, empowering share owners and their delegates to grant and revoke access themselves.
- For LSS shares created in July 2020 or later, please refer to the steps below about how to use Access Management to grant and revoke access.
- For LSS shares created prior to July 2020, please email research-computing@uiowa.edu to request a change to user access.
ITS - Research Services will contact the share owner once user management for their share has been made available in Access Management.
Grant access to an LSS share using Access Management
- Login to Access Management - https://iam.uiowa.edu/access.
- Under Services, click on "Large Scale Storage (LSS)" and then click on the name of your LSS share.
- Click the "Add" button on the "Members" tab.
- In the popup that opens, enter the Hawk ID, Health Care ID, name, or email address of the user you want to add and click the search icon.
- In the list of search results, click on the user you want to grant access to.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 to select additional users as needed.
Note: You will need to select both a user's Hawk ID and Health Care ID if they need access from both IDs. - Select the permission the selected user(s) should have - either Read Only or Read/Write to the entire share. LSS does not support complex nested permissions inside a single file share.
- Click "Accept".
Note: It may take up to 1 hour for permission changes to take effect for users accessing the share via the Argon HPC system.
