ITS - Research Services is in the process of moving user management for LSS shares into Access Management, empowering share owners and their delegates to grant and revoke access themselves.

  • For LSS shares created in July 2020 or later, please refer to the steps below about how to use Access Management to delegate the ability to grant & revoke access to your LSS share.
  • For LSS shares created prior to July 2020, ITS - Research Services will contact the share owner once user management for their share has been made available in Access Management.

LSS share owners may delegate management of user access to their share by assigning the "manager" and "owner" roles in Access Management. Each role may be assigned to multiple users, and changes to LSS share access and roles are audited by Access Management.

Add a manager or owner

  1. Login to Access Management - https://iam.uiowa.edu/access.
  2. In the list of Services, click on "Large Scale Storage (LSS)" and then click on the name of your LSS share.
  3. Click on the cog wheel in the upper right corner to open the settings page.
  4. Click on the "Resource Roles" tab.
  5. Click the "Add" button.
  6. In the popup that opens, enter the Hawk ID, Health Care ID, name, or email address of the user you want to make a manager/owner and click the search icon.
  7. In the list of search results, click on the user you want to grant access to.
  8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 to select additional users as needed.
Note: You will need to select both a user's Hawk ID and Health Care ID if they need access from both IDs.
  9. Check the box for each role to grant the selected users. Note: Being assigned the "manager" or "owner" role does not grant someone access to the LSS share - if a manager or owner should have access to the LSS share, they must also be added as a "member".
  10. Click "Accept".

Remove a manager or owner
