ITS-AIS Identity and Access Management (IAM) team provides services including account provisioning, authentication, and tools. These provisioning services include electronic communication (email, IM, emergency communication, etc), storage (home drives, OneDrive), electronic door access, ID card, wireless, VPN, and a number of cloud services. Self-service and administrative IAM tools (DNATools) are also supported. An Identity Warehouse (IDW) is provided to make identity data available to campus applications.

ITS will conduct maintenance on the Identity Warehouse (IDW) to migrate the database engine to new physical hardware. Dependent IAM services will be unavailable during the outage period, including:
- Access Management
- IAM Tools
- Select IAM APIs
- Web Login with Shibboleth and UI Passport (UIP/"Login Tools")
An outage period of approximately 60 minutes is expected during this window.
Direct consumers of the IDW service are advised that the IP address will change. However, no firewall changes are being made at this time and DNS TTL will be reduced to minimize the transition time.
Additionally, the database engine will be migrated from SQL 2014 to SQL 2019. The compatibility mode of the database will be raised at a later date.
ITS will migrate database instances underlying the IAM platform to new servers. Some IAM services will be impacted during the maintenance window, including:
- Identity updates in response to upstream changes will be paused
- Access Management will be unavailable
- Select IAM APIs will be unavailable
- Account Center actions (password reset, Duo enrollment, account request/invite, new account setup) will be unavailable
- Online ID card request will be unavailable
An outage period of approximately 60 minutes is expected during this window.
Maintenance will be performed on Identity Warehouse (IDW) to migrate to new SAN storage. Dependent IAM services will be unavailable during the outage period, including:
- Access Management
- IAM Tools
- Select IAM APIs
- Web Login with Shibboleth
- UI Passport (UIP/"Login Tools")

The College of Engineering Active Directory forest will be migrated to the IOWA Active Directory forest during this time. The following College of Engineering services may be impacted during this transition:
- Local desktop logins (Windows and Linux)
- Remote logins (Windows and Linux)
- VPN
- VDI
- File share access
