For a quick graphic for a slide, webpage, or handout, start by signing in to your University Microsoft Copilot Chat account. Open Copilot Chat and sign in with your HawkID. Copilot Chat is available to faculty, staff, and students, and has enterprise data protection. It does not have access to your Outlook, OneDrive, or Teams content. Copilot Chat can generate images simply by describing what you want to create.
Which Copilot should I use?
Copilot Chat (browser): Best for quick ideation and image creation in the browser. Your Microsoft 365 files are not shared with it. Available to faculty, staff, and students at no cost.
Microsoft 365 Copilot (additional, paid license for faculty and staff): Integrated with Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and more. Use it when you want AI assistance inside your documents and meetings, including generating images directly in Word and PowerPoint.

Sign in to Copilot Chat with your HawkID. Open Copilot Chat. [Add login link]
In the prompt box, type: “Create a flat icon of a microscope, simple style, solid background.”
Next, ask Copilot: “Give me three variations with thicker outlines and centered composition.”
Download your favorite result and add it to your slide or page. If you have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, you can also ask Copilot in Word or PowerPoint to create an image and insert it on the page or slide.
Prompt tips for stronger visuals
Set a role and purpose: “As a course TA, design a banner for lab safety.”
Add style and palette: “flat illustration, high-contrast two-color palette.”
Specify layout/output: “16:9 wide banner, space for title on left.”
