Skype for Business mobile apps for iPhone, iPad and Android are now available. Each of these clients offer full IM, presence, audio and video tools. They are available as free downloads from the respective App Stores. The sections below provide installation and first-time login instructions.

  1. Download the Skype for Business for iPhone client from the App Store.
  2. Open Skype for Business after the download is complete.
  3. Tap Allow to "Business" Would Like to Send You Notifications.
  4. Tap OK to “Business” Would Like to Access Your Contacts.
  5. Tap OK to “Business” Would  Like to Access the Microphone.
  6. Type your UI email address in the Sign-In Address field (e.g. jane-doe@uiowa.edu).
  7. Tap Advanced Options.
  8. Type HawkID@uiowa.edu (e.g., jdoe@uiowa.edu) in the Username field
  9. Auto-Detect Server should be set to On.
  10. Close the window by tapping the X in the top left corner.
  11. Tap the Blue arrow to continue.
  12. Type your HawkID password in the Password field and then tap the Sign in button.
  13. Enter your Cell Phone number.  Tap the Blue Arrow to continue.

 

 

 

  1. Download the Skype for Business for iPad client from the App Store.

  2. Open Skype for Business after the download is complete.

  3. Tap Allow to "Business" Would Like to Send You Notifications.

  4. Tap Allow to "Business" Would Like to Access Your Contacts.

  5. Tap Allow to "Business" Would Like to Access the Microphone.

  6. Type your UI email address in the Sign-In Address field (e.g. jane-doe@uiowa.edu).

  7. Tap Advanced Options.

  8. Type HawkID@uiowa.edu (e.g., jdoe@uiowa.edu) in the Username field.

  9. Auto-Detect Server should be set to On.

  10. Close the window by tapping the X in the top left corner.

  11. Tap the Blue arrow to continue.

  12. Type your HawkID password in the and then tap the Sign in button.

  13. Enter your Cell Phone number.  Tap the Blue Arrow to continue.

 

Please note, the installation process for Android apps varies greatly depending on the version of the underlying operating system, and whether it is a tablet or a phone.

During the installation process you may be prompted by Android to grant permissions or access to certain resources (such as contacts, camera etc.); it is safe to allow access. You may also be presented with Terms of Use, which you have to accept to continue.

The instructions below are general installation instructions common to most Skype for Business installations on Android.  

 

  1. From your phone or table, click to go to the Google Play Store, and search for Skype for Business.
  2. Tap Install to begin download.
  3. Tap Open.
  4. Type your email address (e.g., jane-doe@uiowa.edu) in the Organization sign-in address field.
  5. Tap Advanced Options
  6. Type your HawkID followed by @uiowa.edu (e.g.HawkID@uiowa.edu) in the Enter User Name field.
  7. Tap back out of Advanced Options
  8. Enter your HawkID password in the Password field.
  9. Tap the Blue Arrow to continue.
  10. You will be asked "What's your phone number?" Your mobile phone number should already be entered; tap the Blue arrow to continue.
  11. You may be provided with a brief preview of Skype for Business.
  12. Tap the Blue arrow to complete the installation and start using Skype for Business.
