As part of our ongoing efforts to align services with strategic goals and improve security and accessibility, we will be retiring the MyWeb service on March 30, 2026. If you currently have a MyWeb account, you must take action to avoid losing your content.

Key Details

  • Service retirement date is March 30, 2026
  • All MyWeb accounts and files will be permanently removed after this deadline
  • New MyWeb account requests are no longer being accepted

Action required

  • Download or migrate all files from your MyWeb account to another platform prior to March 30, 2026

Replacement options

What happens if I do not download or migrate my data prior to the deadline?

MyWeb accounts (https://myweb.uiowa.edu/[hawkid]) will no longer be available after March 30, 2026. SFTP access to your files will cease to exist and all files will be permanently deleted.

What if I no longer need my MyWeb account or files?

If you no longer need your MyWeb account or files, it is still a good idea to download your files so you have them in case a future need arises. Other than that, there isn't anything additional you need to do. We will permanently remove your account and files after the deadline.

Moving forward with SiteNow as a replacement

If you decide to move forward with a SiteNow website as your replacement, start by filling out the request form over at https://sitenow.uiowa.edu/request-site. You won't be able to keep your existing URL, so we suggest selecting a New pre-approved domain pattern like https://{hawkid}.sites.uiowa.edu. We batch requests and try fulfill requests within a week.

Once you get notified that your website is ready to use, you can download files from your MyWeb account. The page content type will be the best replacement for most content content found on MyWeb accounts. Rendered body HTML can be copy/pasted from the browser into the body WYSIWYG text editor and most formatting and links should be retained. For other supported assets, you will need to download and re-upload them but they can be added directly using the WYSIWYG. See https://sitenow.uiowa.edu/documentation/wysiwyg for more information about the types of HTML content you can add through our WYSIWYG areas.

The pages themselves can be added to the main menu system which will make them available to your website visitors. https://sitenow.uiowa.edu/documentation/managing-menus

Once you are ready to go-live, contact us and we will make the website live at the final URL.
