Configuring Trusted Devices
Duo's trusted device feature works like "remember my computer.” With the trusted device, users can mark a device as theirs by clicking “Yes, this is my device." They won't need secondary authentication for that application from the same device and browser for 30 days.
Trusted devices are enabled on a per-application basis and are supported only for web-based applications. Application owners determine if users can identify trusted devices, or if the service requires two-step authentication for all logins.
Configuring a trusted device:
- Login to a web application with your HawkID and password.
- Approve the push notification automatically sent to your device through the Duo Mobile app.
- If you are the only person who uses the device, click "Yes, this is my device" to trust the browser.
- When the trust period expires after 30 days, you will be prompted for the Two-Step Login authentication and have the option to trust the browser again.
For this Duo function, a trusted device is a combination of a physical computer and a browser. The browser used to set the trusted device at login time is the browser on the computer that will be considered trusted.
