NOTE: The steps to perform this procedure may be different depending on your TV model. ALWAYS refer to the User's Guide for your specific TV for complete information.  

  1. Press the Home or Menu button on the remote
  2. Select Setup or Settings
  3. Select Channel
  4. Select Auto Tuning or Auto Program
  5. Select Start

Note: It is important to allow the device to completely scan to 100%. If the device is not allowed to search for all available stations, some could be missing from the channel list

  1. With your TV powered on press the source button and select the "TV" source, and then press ENTER.
  2. Press the MENU button to open the Main Menu.
  3. Use the ▲ or ▼ buttons and select the Channel portion of the Main Menu, and then press ENTER. Important: If you are not on the TV source the Channel portion of the main menu will be inaccessible (grayed out). Note: Antenna will be highlighted by default. Confirm that the antenna selected in set to Cable. If not press ENTER to and use the ▲ or ▼ buttons to select Cable and then press ENTER again.
  4. Use the ▲ or ▼ buttons and select Auto Program, and then press ENTER.
  5. An on‐screen guide will appear, Next will be highlighted, press the ENTER button to start the auto programming process.
  6. Confirm that the Antenna is set for Cable, Use the ▶ button to select Next, and then press ENTER.
  7. Select the type of signal broadcast for your cable system. When finished use the ▶ button to select Next, and then press ENTER. Note: Most cable providers use a standard (STD) broadcasting signal, if you are unsure of what type of system your cable company uses select STD or contact them for further details. 
  8. The TV will begin to scan for channel, Let the TV complete this process. Note: This process can take 20 minutes or more.
  9. When finished your TV will display a count of the channel found, press ENTER to exit.

OPTION 1

  1. Press the Home button on your remote control to display TV Home Menu/XMB and select the Initial Setup icon under the Settings category
  2. Select the language for the on‐screen display
  3. Make sure the coax cable is plugged into your TV and select Auto Program to advance to the Auto Programming. This may take some time to complete. Cancelling this process will result in missing channels
  4. Follow the on‐screen instructions to complete the setup and begin viewing your TV    

OPTION 2

  1. Press the Menu or Setup button on your remote
  2. When the menu opens, choose the Settings option
  3. Navigate to the Set‐Up or Settings menu (usually has an icon of a toolbox) and select it
  4. Choose the Digital Set‐Up option (on some TVs, you may not need to select this option)
  5. In the Digital Set‐Up screen, select the Digital Tuning option. You may need to press the UP button on your remote to get to it. The icon is for it may look like a wrench
  6. Select Digital Auto Tuning and begin the tuning process. If prompted, choose Cable as your TV Connection Type. This may take some time to complete. Cancelling this process will result in missing channels

OPTION 1

The Option 1 procedure is for TVs with menus similar to the one shown below.

  1. Press the INPUT button on the remote control repeatedly until ANT/CABLE is selected.
  2. Press the MENU button on the remote control.
  3. Using the Arrow buttons, select the icon in the top menu associated with SETUP, this is the icon furthest on the Right that looks like a gear.
  4. Use the arrow buttons to select and highlight INSTALLATION and press ENTER.
  5. Select the icon in the top menu associated with TERRESTRIAL, this is the icon furthest on the Left that looks like an antenna.
  6. Select and highlight INPUT CONFIGURATION and press ENTER.
  7. Using the left/right arrow buttons, select Antenna or Cable as desired, then select DONE.
  8. Press the CH RTN button to go back to the TERRESTRIAL menu.
  9. Select CHANNEL PROGRAM and press ENTER.
  10. Select START SCAN to begin the Channel Program. Progress will be shown on the screen. Once complete the TV will display the lowest scanned and identified channel.   

OPTION 2

The Option 2 procedure is for TVs with menus similar to the one shown below.

  1. Press the INPUT button on the remote control repeatedly until ANT/CABLE is selected.
  2. Press the MENU button on the remote control.
  3. Using the Arrow buttons, select SETTINGS.
  4. Use the arrow buttons to select SETUP from the upper items and press ENTER.
  5. Select ANT/CABLE. 
  6. Using the left/right arrow buttons, select Antenna or Cable as desired.
  7. Next select AUTO TUNING and press ENTER.
  8. Select START SCAN to begin the Auto Tuning. Progress will be shown on the screen. Once complete the TV will display the lowest scanned and identified channel.
  1. Press the INPUT button on your remote to view your current input source. The TV (coaxial cable) input must be selected. This may appear as “TV,” “ANT,” or the channel and call letters of a station.
  2. If the TV input is not selected, press INPUT until the TV input mode is selected.
  3. Open the on‐screen menu and select TV or Tuner option. (This varies by model.)
  4. Highlight Tuner Mode and select the correct option:   o Cable—direct from the wall cable TV, or a cable or satellite box connected to the TV with coaxial cable
  5. Select Auto Search or Auto Channel Scan. (This varies by model.)
  6. When the search reaches 100% complete, exit to the menu.
  7. Check the available channels:   o Antenna or direct‐from‐wall cable—Press the Channel Up and Channel Down buttons on your VIZIO TV remote to view the available channels. If this does not resolve the issue, clear the TV memory (STEPS), and then re‐run the channel scan:
    1. Turn off the TV.
    2. Unplug the TV from the electrical outlet.
    3. While the TV is unplugged from the wall, press and hold the Power button on the TV for 30 seconds.
    4. Release the power button.
    5. Plug the TV back into the electrical outlet.
    6. Turn on the TV. Note: There is also an option to reset the TV to the factory default settings. This option is in either the SETUP or SYSTEM section of the on‐screen menu. The option may be “Reset all settings", ”System Reset,” or “Reset & Admin.” Consult your TV’s user manual for the location and steps for resetting your model.
    7. Remove the coaxial cable from the DTV/TV connector on the back of your television and perform a channel scan to clear the existing channels. See the procedure above. This should not find any channels.
    8. Re‐attach the coaxial cable to the DTV/TV connector and perform a new channel scan.
