Skype for Business (Lync) mobile apps for iPhone, iPad, Android, and Windows Phone are now available.  Each of these clients offer full IM, presence, audio and video tools.  They are available as free downloads from the respective App Stores. The FAQ tabs below provide installation and first-time login instructions.

  1. Open the App Store and search for Skype for Business. Download and install the app.
  2. Click OK (or Don't Allow) when prompted "Skype for Business would like to access your contacts".
    • iOS device may also ask for "Skype for Business would like to access your microphone/camera/pictures" depending on whether you will be calling, video-chatting, or sharing images.
  3. Type your UI email address in the Sign-In Address field(e.g. jane-doe@uiowa.edu).
  4. Type your Hawkid password in the Password field.
  5. Tap the Advanced Settings link.
  6. Type hawkID@uiowa.edu (e.g., jdoe@uiowa.edu) in the Username field.
  7. AutoDetectServer should be set to On.
  8. Tap the Sign In button.
  9. On the "Welcome" screen tap Next.
  10. On the Manage Data Use screen, select On for "Require WiFi for VOIP calls" and "Require WiFi for Video calls".
  11. Click Next.
  12. Type your mobile phone number and tap Next.
  13. Choose your preference - Yes or No - when prompted to change call forwarding settings.
  14. Tap Done on the “You’re All Set” screen.
  1. Download the Skype for Business for iPad client from the App Store.
  2. Open Skype for Business after installation.
  3. Tap OK to "Skype for Business would like to access your contacts" prompt.
  4. Type your UI email address in the Sign-In Address field(e.g. jane-doe@uiowa.edu).
  5. Type your Hawkid password in the Password field.
  6. Tap Show Advanced Options.
  7. Type hawkID@uiowa.edu (e.g., jdoe@uiowa.edu) in the Username field.
  8. AutoDetectServer should be set to On.
  9. Choose a sign-in status in the Sign-in As field.
  10. Tap the Sign In button.
  11. Tap Next.
  12. Click OK to the message "Important.  Don't use the Skype for Business App to make emergency calls" if it appears
  1. From your phone, click to go to the Google Play Store, and search for Skype for Business.
  2. Tap Install to begin download.
  3. Tap Open.
  4. Type your email alias (e.g., jane-doe@uiowa.edu).
  5. Enter your hawkid password.
  6. Tap Advanced Options
  7. Enter User name as HawkID@uiowa.edu
  8. Tap back out of Advanced Options
  9. Tap Sign In.
  10. Tap the Next Arrow.
  11. Your mobile phone number should already be entered.
  12. Tap Next.
  13. Sync Contacts should already be checked.
  14. Tap Next.
  15. Tap Done.

There are three tabs on the main screen for your contacts, conversation history, and calendar.

  1. Go to the Store and search for Skype for Business. Download and install the app.
  2. In the Sign-In Address field, type your email alias (e.g., jane-doe@uiowa.edu).
  3. In the Password field, type your Hawkid password.
  4. Select the box to remember the password.
  5. Select More Details.
  6. In the Sign In As field, select the status you wish to use.
  7. In the User Name field, type hawkID@uiowa.edu (e.g., jdoe@uiowa.edu)
  8. Verify that Auto-detect Server is On.
  9. Select the checkmark icon to login.
