The work has been completed, and access has been restored. Research Services continues to monitor the system.
ITS Research Services is continuing to work on itf-rs-store36. While we've made some progress, we also experienced a significant setback. We are working on getting the system back into the cabinet and connection restored, however, we were unable to replace all the hardware components due to receiving the incorrect parts from the vendor. Due to the location of the failed components there was no way for ITS Research Services to know these were the incorrect parts until we fully took the system apart. We are working with our vendor to ensure that they send us the correct parts as quickly as possible so we can ultimately resolve the hardware and performance issues with this system.
ITS Research Services continues to troubleshoot ongoing performance/hardware issues with itf-rs-store36.hpc.uiowa.edu. We will need to take a maintenance to replace several hardware components. This work will require the system being fully powered down and taken out of the rack to service.
Due to the nature of this work, we cannot provide a time frame on how long the server will be unavailable. At minimum we anticipate this being unavailable for 4-6 hours. We will provide updates as we complete critical stages of work on maintenance day.
