On Friday, March 27th, access to Microsoft Outlook through Virtual Desktop will be restricted. When a user launches Outlook 2016, they will receive the following message: "In order to conserve licenses for Virtual Desktop, please run Outlook via the web or directly on your computer. See https://its.uiowa.edu/office365email"
Today, we have a number of ways to access email including running Outlook directly on a Windows/Mac computer or by using the web interface at https://office365.uiowa.edu.
As the campus is teaching and working remotely, we are monitoring the capacity and licensing for the Virtual Desktop service. By making this change we can help make sure the service is available for those who have no alternative for running certain applications.
