The resilvering process is now 93% complete and nearing finalization. Upon completion, this service degradation will transition to project-based work focused on full data synchronization.
To support completion of the resilvering effort, synchronization of emergency or critical data will be temporarily paused.
All further communication with the 621 affected users will be provided directly via email as data synchronization activities begin.
Friday (next update Monday 4/27)
The resilvering process on the legacy Argon Homes server is currently at 77% completion and continuing to progress toward full stability. While progress remains non-linear, we are encouraged by recent advancement and expect the resilvering process to complete early next week.
Planning for bulk data synchronization to the new Argon Homes environment is underway and will proceed once resilvering has completed.
In the meantime, Research Services remains available to support the synchronization of critical datasets upon request.
The resilvering process for the legacy Argon Homes server is currently at 65% completion and continues to progress toward stability. As noted previously, progress may not be linear, and we may see periods of accelerated advancement.
Research Services engineers now have IDAS successfully connected to the new Argon Homes environment, representing an important step forward in restoring full research workflows.
Bulk data synchronization to the new Argon Homes environment for affected users is still anticipated to begin once the current resilver process completes.
In the meantime, Research Services remains available to support the synchronization of critical datasets upon request.
The resilvering process for the legacy Argon Homes server continues to progress and remains the primary dependency before full data synchronization can begin. The resilver process picked up speed over the weekend and now stands at 57%. We are still targeting the start of bulk data synchronization later this week, assuming continued steady progress.
Research Services engineers continue to work on IDAS being able to mount the new Argon Homes space and hope to have this work complete in the next day or two.
Research Services remains available to assist with urgent data access needs upon request.

Status Update – Friday (next update Monday 4/20)
The resilvering process for the legacy Argon Homes server is currently at 36% completion and progressing toward full stability. While progress may appear slow, it is important to note that advancement is not always linear, and we may see periods of accelerated progress over the weekend.
Bulk data synchronization to new Argon Homes environment for affected users is still anticipated to begin at some point next week. Argon activity and job submission is not dependent upon synchronization.
In the meantime, Research Services remains available to support the synchronization of critical datasets upon request.
The disk resilver process on the original Argon Homes server is progressing, though slower than initially projected. Full data synchronization from old homes to new homes cannot begin until this process completes — we currently expect that to occur next week.
In the meantime, Research Services remains available to assist with small, critical data transfers on a case-by-case basis. Please note that each transfer incrementally slows the resilver process, so we are limiting these to urgent needs only.
We appreciate your continued patience and will provide another update as the timeline becomes clearer.
Approximately 621 users have been migrated from the older Argon Home system that has been having issues. Users on this system received email updates last week. The migrated users can access new Argon Homes without having to do anything different, however, the final data sync between old and new Argon homes is not yet complete. This alert will remain up until syncing starts. Syncing is expected to begin next week at the earliest. A ticket should be created if users have a critical need for their some of their data left on old homes.
ITS Research Services is continuing to troubleshoot performance issues on one of the three Argon home systems. Impacted users will be receiving direct communication regarding next steps to resolve these issues.
ITS Research Services has rebooted the system and is seeing access restored. We will leave the alert up as we monitor the system as it recovers from the reboot.
ITS Research Services is currently troubleshooting an issue with one of the Argon Home servers and will need to reboot the system to resolve some of the errors. Users may be unable to connect to the cluster, unable to mount their home directory, or experience general slowness.
