  1. Apple has a planned fix for both the FileVault and Finder SMB file share issues with the upcoming release of version 13.4 for macOS Ventura.
  2. ITS is still working with Apple for a planned fix for these issues in macOS Monterey (version 12).
Description

We are currently experiencing two, unrelated issues with UI-managed macOS systems:

  1. For some macOS Monterey (version 12) and Ventura (version 13) machines, we’ve found that when users move files within the Finder on an SMB file share (home and shared drives) to a different directory within an SMB file share, that file can no longer be opened until it is renamed. This does not affect files moved within the Terminal and does not affect copied files. We have a ticket open with Apple and are waiting for a resolution.
  2. FileVault is causing login issues for some macOS Monterey (version 12) and Ventura (version 13) machines with FileVault enabled. After a restart of these machines, some users are unable to use their computers because they see a progress bar that pauses for an undetermined amount of time. This issue is occurring with users who are logging into AD accounts and mount their H: drives automatically. ECM has created a workaround that removes the automatic mount of the H: drive. To access this workaround please open the Self Service application and click the "Remove Managed Home Folder" item in the Maintenance category. Users can manually mount their H: drive through the Connect to Server dialog box. Contact your IT Support Consultant for additional information and support.
