Register by Friday, Oct. 13, to attend the Office of Teaching, Learning, and Technology’s ICON Day 2023. This year’s event will focus on universal design for learning (UDL), and we’re excited to announce that Thomas Tobin, an internationally recognized scholar, author, and speaker on technology-mediated education, will join us as the keynote speaker.

Tobin, PhD, MSLS, PMP, MOT, CPACC, will present practical techniques to implement all 31 universal design for learning (UDL) checkpoints. You’ll leave with actionable strategies to re-frame access and inclusion conversations and use-them-now resources to learn more about UDL checkpoints and how to apply them in your teaching.

The event, designed to promote excellence in teaching and learning through effective adoption and use of instructional technology, will feature presentations from UICapture, Gradescope, and Instructure, which powers ICON. OTLT Research and Analytics will demonstrate the Course Activity Insights, a new tool that leverages ICON data, and introduce other ways they support instruction at the university.

Whether planning your curriculum, building an ICON site, or engaging students in and outside of class, this event will provide best practices and tools that encourage inclusivity.

Thank you to our campus partners—including the Office of the Provost, University Libraries, the College of Education, the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, Distance and Online Education, the Excellence in Teaching and Learning Network, and the Center for Teaching—for supporting ICON Day 2023.
