The workshop is a two-hour session that consists of two parts: an introduction to a High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment and hands-on training on the basic usage of Argon (access, configuration, job submission, and data transfer). It is geared towards users of HPC including faculties, postdocs, and students, who plan to utilize Argon cluster and/or storage services for their research. Prior experience or knowledge of supercomputers is not required to attend the workshop and participate in the in-class activities.

It will be lectured by Doosoo Yoon from Research Services and will include both lecture and hands-on training.

The topics to be covered include:

• Introduction to HPC facilities
• A brief overview of Research storage and ITS-supported services
• Getting started to use the Argon cluster
  • Accessing and checking the HPC environment
  • Launching HPC jobs with a Queue-Batch system
  • Data Transfer
