University of Iowa leaders are exploring a range of ways to engage with artificial intelligence in their work. A special leadership-focused edition of AI Lightning Talks will offer a space for leaders to share examples of how they are currently approaching AI, along with reflections on what they are learning along the way.

AI Lightning Talks is a monthly series that invites University of Iowa faculty and staff to share short presentations about AI-related projects, experiments, and observations across teaching, research, and administration. Talks are typically five minutes long, creating a fast-paced format that emphasizes concrete examples and peer learning rather than formal instruction.

The February session, Leadership in Action: Practical AI Use Cases, centers on perspectives from campus leaders who have chosen to discuss how AI shows up in their day-to-day work. Presentations will reflect individual contexts and roles, offering insight into how different units are thinking about AI as one of many tools that may support their responsibilities.

What to expect

During this one-hour virtual session, leaders will share brief examples related to:

  • Approaches to communication and collaboration.
  • Experiences using information and data to support decisions.
  • Observations about AI’s role in supporting students, faculty, and staff.
  • Local experiments or early uses within departments or units.

These examples are shared to show how campus leaders are using AI in their work. They are not intended as prescriptions or endorsements.
