Maintenance Notification: NES and DCNS will conduct maintenance on the Campus Core Firewalls on Monday, October 19, from 10 to 11 p.m. This maintenance is necessary to resolve an urgent issue affecting data flow.
Impact:
Traffic to and from campus networks will lose connectivity to internet, DNS, and data centers for this entire window.
Traffic between UHIC and the campus network will lose connectivity to the UI DC.
Traffic between campus and OneIT Datacenters will be interrupted
Traffic to the Campus DC’s - impact with be limited to a short loss of connectivity to the campus networks; internal traffic, internet traffic, and traffic between DC’s will not be impacted. However, this will include losing access to campus DNS Servers during the window.
Description:
The production cutover will implement a configuration change that impacts the firewall interfaces, VLAN assignments, and Cisco port-channels. The expected outage is approximately one minute or less, based on similar changes in previous maintenance windows. The interruption will begin as the configuration takes effect and the new interfaces establish connectivity with the Cisco core routers. If a backout of these changes is necessary, the outage could extend to 5–10 minutes.
This is our vendor’s first recommended change to reduce internal load and help address a performance issue.
