IT Service Alerts were created to notify the university community when our services are impacted. IT Service Alerts can be viewed on the IT Service Alerts page.

Below are the types of alerts and messages that they generate:

  • Outage: The service is not available. Outage email notifications go out immediately.
  • Service degradation: There is partial loss of service or functionality. Degradation of service email notifications go out immediately.
  • Planned maintenance: The service is scheduled for preventative maintenance or upgrades. Planned maintenance alerts appear in the daily digest emails starting seven days before the planned maintenance.
  • Service announcement: The service has an announcement, enhancement, or a new service is available to campus. Service announcements appear in daily digest emails, typically within two weeks of when they go into effect.

All members of OneIT are automatically enrolled in the IT Service Alerts email notifications. If you are outside of OneIT and not already subscribed and you would like to receive these emails to your University of Iowa mailbox, please contact the Help Desk to make the request to the IT Service Alerts.
