To increase security and privacy for the University of Iowa community, all new Zoom meetings have a passcode (may be referred to as password in the Zoom client) automatically set.
When a new meeting is scheduled, a passcode will be generated automatically. You can change this to a custom passcode if you prefer.
The invite link (including the invitation to the meeting) will automatically include the passcode so attendees will be able to click the link and join meetings automatically without having to enter the passcode manually.
Zoom is planning to enforce increased security later this year, but it was decided to make this change earlier for the University of Iowa. This provides our faculty, staff and students with the most flexibility and time to adapt to the change.
Please note that this change only impacts new meetings being scheduled. Meetings scheduled prior to July 23, 2020 have not been changed.
