Thousands of telephone numbers have been migrated to Skype for Business, and dozens of units will convert from traditional phones to the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) solution in the months ahead.

VoIP uses the internet to make calls instead of the traditional phone systems. Skype for Business allows users to make VoIP calls, with additional features of instant message, presence, and video calls. It provides greater flexibility and enhanced user features, and reduces maintenance and infrastructure costs associated with traditional phone service.

Traditional phone lines will convert to Skype for Business on a department-by-department basis. You will receive a notification via email in advance of your department's transition. Your department IT support consult and representatives from ITS will work closely with your department to establish plans for your transition.
