In GitLab, you can create projects for:

  • hosting your code base;
  • using the issue tracker to keep track of your To Do list, as well as external requests through the Service Desk feature that automatically creates issues from emails;
  • collaborating on code with multiple other GitLab users;
  • using GitLab CI/CD to continuously build, test, and deploy your applications (note: you will need to setup your own runner).

Your projects can be available publicly, internally, or privately, at your choice. GitLab does not limit the number of private projects you create. Please view the GitLab documentation for additional features and information. If you have questions about the availability of a particular feature in our campus instance, please reach out to us through git-support@uiowa.edu.
