The need for this proactive maintenance is to apply a critical security update to a core component of the Top Hat infrastructure. This component is widely used across the software industry, and Top Hat will be applying this update in response to a notification from their cloud provider, AWS. 

Top Hat is scheduling this maintenance at a time that minimizes impact to faculty or students. Unfortunately, the urgent nature of this maintenance requires Top Hat to complete it prior to our normal maintenance window.  No action is required on your part and service will resume immediately upon completion.
