There are three changes planned for Infrastructure Day on Sunday,  November 23rd.  Read on for details. . . .

Start: Sunday, November 23, 2025 – 6:00 am

End: Sunday, November 23, 2025 – 8:00 am

The first two changes will occur from 6:00 am to 6:15 am.

  1. At ITF, the research ASA firewalls will be moved to the new network fabric. No configuration changes will be made, just migrating connections and using the active and passive firewalls to mask any impact to end customers.
  2. (Canceled) The Enterprise Infrastructure (EI) storage subnet in the ITF datacenter will be migrated to a new network VRF.  Routed traffic to this subnet will be disrupted for up to 5 minutes.  Services impacted include Files@Iowa (UDSS & ADSS departmental and application shares), RDSS, and HOME drives.

After the above changes are completed, and taking the remainder of the change window:

  1. The spine switches in Lindquist Center (LC14) and the Information Technology Facility (ITF) datacenters will receive routine software code upgrades. Each spine will be upgraded sequentially. Work will begin at LC14 and continue at ITF once LC14 upgrades are complete. No customer impact is expected. The spine layer is fully redundant, and all network traffic will automatically reroute to remaining spines during each upgrade and reboot. All connected leaf, TOR, and service devices will remain online throughout the maintenance window.
