After migration, databases will follow the established connectivity and security models of their destination SQL Server 2019 shared hosting environments.

Impact

  • Databases and related applications may be unavailable during maintenance windows.
  • Some applications may require service restarts after database connectivity is restored.
  • Access that has not been identified, tested, and approved before migration may not function after cutover.
    • Applications, websites, reports, scheduled jobs, and integrations that depend on these databases may become unavailable or degraded.
    • Connectivity patterns will change for some customers.

Action required

Customers should:

  • Identify systems that connect to these SQL Server environments.
  • Validate connectivity to the destination environments before migration.
  • Review applications for hard-coded IP addresses, hard-coded hostnames, connection strings, and SQL Server drivers or client configurations that may require updates.

If an application requires broad campus database access such as VPN, wireless, dynamic workstation, or other non-standard connectivity patterns that can’t be accommodated by the SQL Server 2019 shared hosting security models, contact the SQL Server DBA team as soon as possible to request a dedicated server exception.

Dedicated server exception requests must be submitted by Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

If testing fails, a dedicated server exception may be required, or you need any other assistance, please contact the ITS SQL Server DBA team.
