Due to the addition of Anthology Ally in the Spring 2025 semester and the overlapping nature of the tools, UDOIT will be removed from ICON on Wednesday, October 1st 2025. Users are encouraged to utilize Anthology Ally for their accessibility checking.

PaperCut will be unavailable during the Shared Database Hosting Migration.
The following printing services will be affected:
Printing in the ITCs
Web print for the ITCs
Web interface for PaperCut
Printing to charge printers
Printing that requires the use of the PaperCut Client software
Printing to print queues on IOWAPRINT01, IOWAPRINT02, IOWAPRINT03, and IOWAPRINT04 will not be affected unless it requires the PaperCut client software.
[Closed] Planned Maintenance - Microsoft SQL Server Hosting and Administration - SQL Server 2019 Shared Database Hosting Migrations
As part of the Data Center Network Segmentation Project, ITS will migrate the SQL Server 2019 shared database hosting environment. This change will involve updated IP addresses and new firewall configurations for the following production systems:
- IOWASQLPROD7.iowa.uiowa.edu
- Deprecated aliases: IOWASQLHOST1, IOWASQLHOST2, IOWASQLHOST3
- IOWASQLPROD8.iowa.uiowa.edu
- Deprecated alias: IOWASQLSEC4
- IOWASQLDMPROD5.iowa.uiowa.edu
- Deprecated alias: IOWASQLDMHOST3
There will be up to 30 minutes of database downtime during the scheduled maintenance window. Some applications may require service restarts or full
[Closed] Service Degradation - ICON Direct - McGraw Hill - SIMnet
There is an issue preventing some instructors from logging into SIMnet when accessing through their LMS integration. Our engineering team is actively investigating and working to restore full functionality. As a temporary workaround, instructors may log in directly to SIMnet. Status updates here.
[Closed] Service Degradation - eduroam
Users may experience issues connecting to Eduroam on the east side of campus. IT support staff are investigating.
[Closed] Service Degradation - Multiple Services
ITS is aware of an issue where some users are unable to view some older content embedded from UICapture in ICON Pages, Discussions, Modules, etc.
The immediate fix for this problem is to embed the content again using the current version of the integration between ICON and UICapture. We've posted a new FAQ with some quick steps that content owners can take to update their content.
ITS will also continue to engage both vendors to provide a long-term solution for the underlying problem with the old integration.
[Closed] Planned Maintenance - Microsoft Skype for Business
The Skype for Business server will be stopped and restarted during this time as the environment is being updated to a version of Skype for Business that will continue to be supported by Microsoft.
Minimal impact on users is expected.
[Closed] Planned Maintenance - parking.uiowa.edu
parking.uiowa.edu will be unavailable for scheduled maintenance.
[Closed] Planned Maintenance - Oracle Hosting and Administration
ITS will apply security updates to the Oracle servers. Each instance on the server will be down for approximately 60 minutes per host.
[Closed] Planned Maintenance - Data Center Operations & Services
Nature of the work: As part of the Data Center Network Segmentation Project, the Enterprise Infrastructure (EI) storage subnet in the Lindquist Center 14 (LC14) datacenter will be migrated to a new network VRF.
Expected impact on services: Routed traffic to this subnet will be disrupted for up to 5 minutes. StorNext service (MDSS) is the only expected customer-visible impact.
Nature of work: Immediately following the above work, any devices remaining on the legacy network in row BA of the data hall at the Information Technology Facility (ITF) will be physically migrated to the new datacenter
