[Closed] Service Degradation - UICapture
There is currently an issue with the component of the integration between ICON and UICapture that provides grades from Panopto activities (grade by % viewed as well as quiz performance) back to ICON assignments.
We will continue to provide updates on this issue and the state of future fixes through this alert.
[Closed] Service Degradation - High Performance Computing
Due to a high security vulnerability ITS Research Services has temporarily blocked access to Argon from off campus. The ability to SSH over port 40 will not be available from outside the campus network. This will also impact the ability to access data.hpc.uiowa.edu from off campus. Users can continue to access Argon or data.hpc from off campus by first connecting to the VPN.
ITS Research Services is working on a patching solution to resolve the vulnerability.
[Closed] Planned Maintenance - Campus Data Network Connectivity, Multiple Buildings
Various switches in the buildings listed will undergo a preventative maintenance reboot.
During this time, the switch will be temporarily unavailable, and any connected devices or services may experience a brief disruption in network connectivity.
Expected Downtime: 10-20 minutes while the reboot is in progress.
Please plan accordingly and ensure that any critical tasks or operations are completed prior to the scheduled maintenance window.
[Closed] Planned Maintenance - Plagiarism Detection
iThenticate will experience 24 hours of downtime on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. Access to iThenticate v1 ends on this day.
On this day, the migration process will move the following from iThenticate v1 to a new 2.0 account:
- Accounts
- Users/User Groups
- Submissions
- Similarity Reports
- Folders
When the migration has been completed successfully, all users will receive an automated “Welcome to iThenticate” email to access their 2.0 accounts. They will then simply log in to access the enhanced iThenticate 2.0 experience.
All iThenticate users will be notified by email prior to the migration.

An issue has been reported with the Opus model in Microsoft 365 Copilot that may be impacting some users. Those affected may encounter the following error: "Oops! Something happened. Can you try again?"
ITS AI Support Team team is actively investigating this issue. In the meantime, users experiencing this issue may want to switch to the alternate GPT models within Copilot as a workaround.

[Closed] Service Announcement - Microsoft 365: Email & Calendaring - Email Phishing Spread Reduction
ITS will implement a daily sending limit for Student Employee, Retiree, Affiliate, and Emeritus Faculty email accounts on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
The final goal is expansion to all accounts which will include faculty and staff. The primary driver behind this change is to limit the spread of phishing attacks when an account is compromised. When a bad actor gains access to a university account, they typically move quickly to send large volumes of phishing emails to other members of our community.
