You can schedule certain slides to show and hide on your sign, but there are some known limitations with the functionality.

Website cron

https://signage.sites.uiowa.edu runs a series of background operations every hour on the hour. There could be a short delay in when a particular process is run after being triggered.

Device boot time

Most of the managed signage devices default to a 4:30 a.m. boot time. By the time the sign display is up and running again, it might be delayed a couple minutes.

Sign reload interval

This interval determines how often the sign will be reloaded and the timer is based on when the sign was last loaded in the signage device's browser. If you have scheduled slides, their display will be updated during the next reload after their scheduled publish or unpublished time.

Slide Scheduling Options

By default, a slide will be published on save, but you can configure publish and unpublished times for the slide using inputs on the slide form. This is a slide specific setting so it will have the same effect regardless of what sign(s) it is added to and even if it is shared outside of your group.

Because of the timing variables mentioned above, content will be published at the top of the hour after the time you select. (e.g., 2:43 p.m. will go live at 3:00 p.m.) so we recommend scheduling a few minutes before the hour in order to see the most accurate results while attempting to account for these other limits. We are looking for ways to improve the experience here.
