Changes to HealthcareIDs or to Healthcare users' email aliases need to be made first with the HCIS Help Desk.
Note: Faculty and staff who are former students of the University of Iowa should use the Student instructions above.
Your university email alias is the address you should always use when sharing your email address. The alias address is in the format of firstname-lastname@uiowa.edu, although middle initials or numbers may be added if an alias is already in use. Refer to this guide for more information on what an email alias is.
Important Note: Changes to an email alias must match either your legal or preferred name on file with the university. If your name has recently changed, follow the name change guides in the above sections before submitting your request to update your email alias.
NOTE: Hospital / Healthcare users need to go through the HCIS Help Desk for HawkID and email alias changes. If this isn't done, access to services such as EPIC will be impacted.
Note: If you have a Healthcare account, these changes may take up to 24 hours to take effect.
