Select your client below for instructions for configuring it to check your Office 365 account.

You may also access Office 365 via the web, to login use the format for your credentials.

  1. Make sure Outlook is closed.
  2. Use Search to find Control Panel  and then select View by Large icons | Mail | Show Profiles
  3. Click Add
  4. Name the profile and click OK
  5. In the E-mail Address field, type your email address – e.g.,
  6. If you are prompted for your password, type your HawkID password in the Password field and re-enter your HawkID password to confirm.
  7. Click Next.
  8. After the account configures, click Finish.
  9. Open Outlook.  Outlook will open, but it may take several minutes as it prepares for the first use.


  1. Open Outlook.
  2. On the "Welcome to Outlook" screen, click Add Email Account.
  3. On the "Enter your email address" screen, type your UI Email Alias eg: "".
  4. Click Continue.
  5. On the "HawkID Login for 365" screen,
    Change the HawkID field to your
    Type your HawkID password in the Password field.
  6. Click Login. 
    Note: If you have Two-Step Login with Duo Security, you will be prompted to complete login using Duo.
  7. On the '" has been added prompt, click Done.
  8. Close the Accounts window. 

Note: If you receive a message: "Outlook was redirected to the server ...". Select "Always use my response for this server" and click Allow.

Note: A recent update has changed how some profiles send your Office365 email.  If you have messages sending from instead of your email alias eg: or if people are having trouble viewing your shared calendar, then you will need to update your profile.

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Select the Tools tab and click Accounts
  3. On the Accounts Screen:
    Select your Office365 account if you have more than one email account added.
    Change the Account Description to your UI Email Alias eg: ""
    Change the E-mail address to your UI Email Alias eg: ""
  4. Exit the Accounts Window.

Note: We recommend Mac users use the Office 365 Web App to share your calendar or to grant permissions.

For First-Time Logging In:

  1. Launch Mac Mail
  2. Account configuration will start automatically
  3. Choose Mail Type: Exchange
  4. Enter your name in the "Name" field
  5. In the Email Address field type your (e.g.
  6. In the Password field enter your HawkID password
  7. Click Sign In
  8. Typically we will see an error message here and a new window that pops up. Enter the following information:
    1. In the Email Address field enter your alias (
    2. In the User Name field enter your (e.g.
    3. Enter your HawkID password
    4. In both the Internal URL and the External URL fields, enter
    5. Click Sign In
  9. Verify your account information and the apps you wish to synchronize with Mac Mail and click "done."


To add an Office 365 Account to your Existing Mac Mailbox

  1. Click Mail > Add Account
  2. Check Exchange and click Continue
  3. Fill in the following details:
    1. Your Name
    2. (
    3. Enter your HawkID Password
    4. Click Sign In
  4. Select apps that you'd like to incorporate with this mailbox
  5. Click Done
  1. Open the Windows 10 Mail application
  2. Choose Add account
  3. Choose Exchange – Exchange, Office 365
  4. On the “Exchange” screen type your email address:
  5. Click Next
  6. Password:  Type your HawkID password in password field
  7. Click Sign in
  8. When prompted with the "Something went wrong" screen, click Advanced
  9. Retype in username field
  10. Server:
  11. Account name:  Your name
  12. Click Sign in
    Note: If you have Two-Step Login with Duo Security, you will be prompted to complete login using Duo.
  13. When prompted ‘Are you sure you want to add, update, or remove your mail account’, click Yes
  14. When prompted that account created, click Done

Outlook 2011 (Mac) 

NOTE:  Microsoft has ended support for Outlook 2011 -- see

  1. Open Outlook 2011.
  2. Select Tools | Accounts
  3. Click the + sign near the bottom of the Accounts screen and choose Exchange from the drop down menu.
  4. Enter your email alias in the Email Address field. eg:
  5. Select User name and password in the Method drop down menu.
  6. Enter your in the user name field. eg:
  7. Enter your HawkID password in the password field.
  8. Select "Configure automatically"
  9. Click Add Account.
  10. You will receive a message: "Outlook was redirected to the server ...". Select "Always use my response for this server" and click Allow.
  11. After the account configures, the Accounts dialog box will appear. You may close this window to access your Inbox.  Please note that this account setup process may take several minutes.
