The Windows operating system has a built-in firewall that prevents unauthorized network access. A program may require that the firewall be modified or disabled to work properly. Disabling the Windows Firewall should only be done temporarily.

Note: If you are on a University-managed computer with Windows please contact the ITS Help Desk for further assistance.

To disable the Windows Firewall on a personal computer see this Microsoft Support Article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/turn-microsoft-defender-firewall-on-or-off-ec0844f7-aebd-0583-67fe-601ecf5d774f
