ResNet connections can be administratively disabled for a number of reasons: copyright violations, a compromised machine, or missing critical security updates on your computer.

  1. If your ResNet connection has been turned off because it has been compromised, visit this guide to learn more about compromised computers.
  2. If your ResNet connection has been turned off for a copyright violation, you can learn more about what you can do if you have a copyright violation on a UI network.

NOTE: If your computer has been disabled from ResNet, DO NOT connect it to a different ResNet port or to the university wireless (eduroam). Once your device is disabled for ResNet, it will not work in any ResNet port and your HawkID account might be disabled from the wireless as well. Please call (319-384-HELP (4357)) or email (its-helpdesk@uiowa.edu) the ITS Help Desk if you have further questions or concerns.
