If you have a computer that is connected to Active Directory (i.e. you use your HawkID and password to log on to the computer), you may experience log on problems after changing your HawkID password from off campus.
Computers on AD save the user credentials, and the AD logon password for the computer cannot be updated until the computer is directly connected to the University’s network, either by being on campus or by connecting using the UI Anywhere VPN client.
If you are not on campus or connected using the VPN, you will not be able to use the computer's "change password" function (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) to change your HawkID password on your AD computer. In addition, if you change your HawkID password through other means while off campus (such as the link on the Office 365 web page, through the HawkID web site directly, or even calling the ITS Help Desk), you will need to continue using your “old” HawkID password to log on to the AD computer until you connect to the UI network as noted above.
All other HawkID services (e-mail, ICON, HR Self-Service, etc.) will use your new HawkID password.
