The University of Iowa Canvas Commons space will be available in ICON for all users with a Teacher or TA account on Friday, February 3rd 2017. Commons is a learning object repository that enables educators to find, import, and share resources. Users can share resources with other Canvas Commons users, with users and groups from within the University of Iowa, or keep files in Commons in a private state for personal use only. Commons accepts all learning objects from ICON courses, from full courses to specific modules, quizzes, assignments, discussions, pages or documents. A license from the Creative Commons standards can be applied to any object added to the Commons database.
Suggested ideas on useful content to include in Commons:
- Syllabus template
- Course template (for colleges, departments, or programs)
- Home page template
- Module template
- Accessibility Module or Page
- Orientation Modules
- Summative assessments
