Faculty, staff, and students who use Lync to chat with colleagues or classmates may notice changes to their service. Due to rebranding efforts by Microsoft, Lync is now called “Skype for Business.”

No actions are required and functionality will remain the same. You’ll receive the same great service, just with a different name and slight visual differences. During the transition, you may see references to both names depending on the device you are using.

With Skype for Business faculty, staff, and students can:

  • Engage in instant messaging conversation
  • Make video or voice calls
  • Schedule online meetings
  • Share screens
  • File share
  • See when colleagues and classmates are away with ‘presence’
